An engineering and architectural masterpiece, Machu Picchu boasts of being one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and for being the largest of the Peruvian Inca ruins and is believed to have been an important ceremonial site.

DAY 01

Machu Picchu full day tour

  • At 03:55 am, pick-up from hotel, and drive to the train station at Ollantaytambo, where the train will take you to Machu Picchu (approx.1h 40 minutes).

  • Take the train at 06:40 am, arriving to Aguas Calientes around 08:00 am.

  • Guide will meet you at the train station in Aguas Calientes to take you to the bus up to Machu Picchu. The bus ride is about 30 minutes.

  • You should arrive at Machu Picchu around 08:45 am and enter the site.

  • During a tour through this magnificent site, the bilingual guide will explain all about the historical sanctuary of Machu Picchu and visit all the major sites within the lost city. The guided tour will take around 2:30 to 3 hours.

  • Afterwards, have free time to wander and admire this awe-inspiring place on your own.

Optional:

  • You can climb the mountain of Huayna Picchu (tickets need to be purchased at the time of your Machu Picchu purchase), which is a 1:30 to 2 hours round-trip. This trip is without a guide.

  • The entrance time is 10:00 am to 11:00 am, so if you choose to take this tour, your guided tour will be faster in order to finish in time to enter Huayna Picchu.

  • After the guided tour, spend rest of your time exploring Machu Picchu on your own. If you would like, you can exit the park to eat a snack at the cafe and re-enter the park. Your ticket is good for the entire day.

  • Afterwards, descend to Aguas Calientes, the town named for its hot springs. Buses leave for Aguas Calientes every 5 minutes (30 minute trip).

  • Then, return by train to Cusco. You can choose the 4:12 pm train to return directly to Cusco or the 7:00 pm train to return to Ollantaytambo. The train ride is about 1h40 minutes. A car will be waiting in Ollantaytambo to take you to Cusco (approx. 90 min).
