5 Days Jungle Expedition tour itinerary for Iquitos & Nauta: IQUITOS JUNGLE TOURS
Canoe at night while fishing with spears, and go camping in the Peruvian Amazon jungle to make the most of this tour. Hike at night and learning survival skills, and enjoy exciting and adventurous activities that you would not dare to do alone.
At 7:00 am, head first to Nauta via land transportation, and then embark on a typical boat of the area to directly reach Curuhuinsi Lodge (located three hours from Iquitos).
During the tour, enjoy wonderful landscapes of the Peruvian jungle with small rural houses located along the banks of the river.
Before arriving at the lodge, make a brief stop where
the three most important rivers of Peru meet: The Amazon River with the Marañón River and the Ucayali River.
While here,see the pink dolphins of the Amazon.
Arrive at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Jungle Hikes, Monkies Species and Giant Trees (Ceiba Tree )
Get up early to appreciate the dawn of the Amazon jungle, and observe various species of birds, such as macaws, tucan, hoatzin, and Horned Screamer. Soak in he beautiful view as all the birds gather in search of food.
After breakfast, start the morning trek through the jungle.
During the trek, learn to identify the diverse flora and fauna, like the different species of monkeys, and about giant trees like the Lupuna (Ceiba Tree).
Learn about the medicinal plants used by the locals for lactation disease. Also learn about the traditional aphrodisiac beverages and its healing power that are made from the corners and roots of trees.
Later, get an experiential class from the guide on how to survive in the jungle and how to use what nature itself gives us for our benefit, just as a local person would.
Look out for Tarzan lianas.
Finally, take a walk to collect some typical ingredients for lasagna, such as palm heart and mushrooms to eat for lunch.
Camping and Expeditions Outside
Spotting / Swimming in the Amazon River with pink dolphins.
Leave by boat towards the Amazon River to bathe and enjoy its fresh water.
It is possible to spot pink dolphins in the water. (Be careful and keep distance without touching the dolphins since they are wild animals. Let them get close, not the other way around.)
Next, make a brief stop on the banks of some tributary rivers and use the surrounding mud to treat skin ailments.
Wallow in the mud to absorb the nutrients and minerals that it possesses and enjoy other healing benefits, such as releasing the body from stress and anxiety, relaxing muscles, moisturizing skin, and eliminating toxins.
Finally, end the day by watching the beautiful sunset of the Peruvian Amazon from the boat.
Canoeing and Fishing for Piranhas
Night Time Jungle Trip: Canoeing, Night Fishing with Spear, Machete, and Caiman Spotting.
Prepare for artisan fishing, and learn how to fish piranhas in the dark tributary rivers of the Amazon.
Upon successfully catching the fish, enjoy a delicious dinner made from the catch.
Next, observe sloths and the biggest aquatic plant, water lilies in the region.
Pull out lanterns and walk through the jungle at night in search of tarantulas, scorpions, snakes and giant frogs.
Witness the enchanting transformation of the jungle into a dark environment, where nature takes on a different character and nocturnal creatures roam around.
Learn how to differentiate a completely different range of fauna from what is usually found during the day.
Listen to the magical sounds of insects, birds, cats, and owls.
Meet the locals
After breakfast, visit a native community located in Puerto Miguel to meet local people and buy some handicrafts.
The people in the jungle are very cheerful and welcoming. They like to share their culture with foreigners, especially children, who enjoy playing sports.
Here, have an opportunity to learn and observe the way of life of these people on the banks of the Amazon River.
Explore and appreciate their homes, construction types, schools, and churches.
Interact with the inhabitants to learn about their farming and fishing techniques.
Observe their customs and traditions, understanding their natural and austere lifestyle.
Later, meet Pablito, the cute sloth who grew up with the community since he was a baby, and since then has never wanted to leave.
Spend some time with the affectionate animal, hold him, play with him, and take some photographs.
Back to Iquitos at 5:00 pm on the last day of the tour.
Full transportation: Airport pick-up – Taxi /River Boat. The company is liable for any other means of transport to transfer clients safely back to Iquitos on the agreed date.
