DAY 01

Arrival at Kathmandu airport (1,350 m)

  • Pick-up from the airport and transfer to the hotel.

  • Have a welcome dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant where you can enjoy delicious and authentic Nepali food followed by a cultural dance show. 

Meal: Dinner.

DAY 02

Kathmandu sightseeing and trek orientation

  • Visit the following places with our Kathmandu tour guide-

    • Swyambhhunath: a magnificent Buddhist Stupa

    • Kathmandu Durbar Square: home of Living goddess Kumari. 

  • Meet your trekking leader and crew members in the afternoon. 

Meal: Breakfast.

DAY 03

Flight to Lukla Valley (2,840 m) and trek to Chutanga (3,050 m)

  • Fly to Lukla. This 30-minute scenic flight gives the glimpse of what you are going to see during your whole trek. 

  • Trek through the fields and forests passing Yak postures and teahouses. 

  • Reach Chutunga (3,100 m) village to stay.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

DAY 04

Chutanga: acclimatization day

  • Explore around the village, Zetra La and the Rhododendron forest. 

  • See brightly coloured Himalayan pheasants that keep to the forests for cover. 

  • Rest of the day at leisure.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

DAY 05

Trek from Chutang to Tuli Kharka (4,400 m)

  • Cross Zetra La pass. 

  • Take a gentle walk and stop for lunch.

  • Get great views of the surrounding peaks from the pass. 

  • Make your way across the rocky flats and passes, gradually descending to Thuli Karka. 

  • Overnight stay at local Lodge. 

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and dinner.

DAY 06

Trek from Thule Karka to Tashing Ongma (3,600 m)

  • Pass through the flats and trek uphill until you gain your first view of Mera Peak. 

  • Drop down into the isolated Hinku Valley. 

  • Ascend a steep section of trail until you enter the forest where you will stop for lunch. 

  • Trek down into the Bamboo forests and turn up along the west side of Hinku River towards Tashing Ongma. 

  • Overnight stay at a lodge. 

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

DAY 07

Trek form Tashing Ongma to Tangnag (4,350 m)

  • Follow the trail that gently climbs up along the west bank of Hinku River with spectacular Mera Peak to the east and Mt. Kusum Kangari to the west. 

  • Cross meadows and hill slopes until reaching Tangnag village. 

  • Overnight at a local lodge. 

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

DAY 08

Acclimatization day at Tangnag

  • Relax; see beautiful mountain serenity and glacial lakes.

  • Overnight at Tangnag. 

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

DAY 09

Trek from Tangnag to Khare (5,100 m)

  • Go through east of Tangnag along the side of Dig glacier.

  • Enjoy the view of pristine Sabai Tso glacial lake. A drop in the lake level caused by a rupture of the recent dam is clearly visible. 

  • Arrive at Khare for lunch. Khare offers stunning north face of Mera Peak and Mera glacier spills steeply down into the valley. 

  • Overnight at a local lodge. 

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

DAY 10

Acclimatization Day at Khare

Our staff will set up base camp at Khare. 

  • Head up about 200 m to the foot of Mera glacier where you can practice rope work and use crampons and ice axes. 

  • Return to Khare for lunch. 

  • Spend the afternoon resting for the upcoming climb. 

  • Overnight stay at Lodge. 

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and dinner.

DAY 11

Trek from Khare to Mera La (5,415 m)

  • Ascend to the Mera glacier. 

  • Cross a long flat on top of the glacier as you make your way to Mera la pass (5,415 m). 

  • Have lunch at Mera La and spend rest of the day relaxing and staying warm. 

  • Overnight stay in tented camp. 

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

DAY 12

Trek from Mera La to High Camp (5,780 m)

  • Head to Mera high camp (5,780 m). High camp is nestled behind a large rocky outcrop. 

  • Complete the journey by lunch.

  • Eat freshly cooked food and spend the rest of the time relaxing and further acclimatizing. 

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Notice: After lunch, our climbing guide will give a technical demonstration using climbing gear such as ice axes, climbing boots, crampons, harness and ascender, plus how to go up and down using ropes. We believe that this training session will enhance your confidence, giving you an increased chance to reach the summit.

DAY 13

Summit Mera Peak (6,654 m) and trek to Khare

  • Continue up the glacier and onto the peculiar ridge. The first striking sunrays over the peaks seem unbelievable. Just behind the summit, the slope steepens and at this section, we may have to fix rope depending on the conditions. 

  • Reach the peak and get rewarded by the eye appealing view of spectacular Mt. Everest (8,848 m) and Lhotse (8,516 m) to the north, Cho Oyu (8,210 m) to the northwest and Kanchenjunga (8,586 m) and Makalu (8,481 m) to the east. 

  • Retrace your steps back to Mera La for lunch.

  • Continue to Khare for an overnight stay. 

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

DAY 14

Extra day

  • We keep this day extra for any unexpected happening. If weather or any other reason causes a halt, then we may have to postpone our summit on day 14. Sometimes health problems also do not allow in making the ascent. If trip goes smoothly, we do not require this spare day. 

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

DAY 15

Trek from Khare to Kothe

  • Descend down to Hinku valley and eventually to Kothe for an overnight stop. (4-5 hours trek)

  • Taste local food and wine at the lodge in the evening. 

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

DAY 16

Trek from Kothe to Thuli Kharka

  • Continue back through the lush forest on the west side of the Hinku valley. (5-6 hours trek)

  • Pass through various varieties of rhododendron flowers. 

  • From Thuli Kharka, observe the range of Mera Peaks like Mera North, Mera central and Mera South. 

  • Overnight stay at Thuli Kharka.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

DAY 17

Trek from Thuli Kharka to Lukla

  • Return to Lukla valley passing Zetra la pass. (6-7 hours trek)

  • From Zetra La, walk all the way down to Chutanga.

  • Take an easy walk to Lukla. 

  • Overnight stay at a local lodge. 

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

DAY 18

fly back to Kathmandu

  • Fly to Kathmandu.

  • Arrival at Kathmandu airport and transfer to the hotel.

  • Enjoy a farewell dinner in the evening.

Meals: Breakfast and Dinner.

DAY 19

Final departure and transfer

  • Transfer to the airport 3-hours prior to the scheduled departure.

  • Fly to your destination.

  • Pick up and drop from Kathmandu airport to airport.

  • 3 meals a day (Breakfasts, Lunch and Dinners with tea or coffee) during the trek and climbing period.

  • Mera peak climbing is one of the most popular of Nepal's 18 'Trekking Peaks'.

  • The walk from Lukla through the Sherpa country of the remote HInkhu valley is an unforgettable experience, offering superb scenery, and abundant wildlife -including rumoured sightings of the legendary Yeti.

  • About 700 foreign visitors climb the 6,654 m Mera peak each year, an achievement which requires mountaineering skills and a special permit from the Nepal Mountaineering Association.

  • Mera peak was an almost overlooked mountain to the east of the main Khumbu trekking trails. It is situated in the Everest region in a remote valley. It is suitable for anyone of average or above average fitness wishing to fulfil the dream of a high Himalayan summit or those with a yearning for adventure. 

  • Follow the original Everest expedition route at the trail-head from Lukla, cross spectacular gorges and visit the Peak before entering Sherpa regions of Solu Khumbu, the wilderness of Hinku Valley. This is a fascinating trek in itself. 

  • Ample time for acclimatisation is allowed en route to our base camp on the Mera La (Pass).
