1 Day Culture tour itinerary for Amsterdam: Walk In The Footsteps Of Anne Frank
Learn about Anne Frank, World War 2 stories, events and motives from a Jewish, Dutch and German perspective. You will also visit Anne's neighbourhood, German district and Jewish Quarter, Anna Frank House, National Holocaust Museum, and Hollandse Schouwburg.
In a one-day walking tour, you will visit significant sites in Amsterdam during World War 2 from a Dutch, Jewish and German perspective. You will be looking at original photographs while standing at the very spot they were taken, finding out about the stories behind the pictures. We will find out about the motives of the people involved, and we will ultimately ask the question: Could this happen again in our time?
Start at Anne Frank's neighbourhood where she lived, played and went to school and where many things happened during the war. We will then walk around the German district where the SS HQ was and hear about stories of bravery and betrayal.
After this, we will go to the Anne Frank House, the museum where you can see the secret annexe where she was hiding. Note that tickets for this need to be reserved well in advance, and cannot be guaranteed if this tour is booked at short notice.
After time for lunch, we will take a canal boat through beautiful Amsterdam to the Jewish Quarter where we will visit the sites of the terrible events around the Jewish deportation with visits to the National Holocaust Museum and the Hollandse Schouwburg.
