Prepare to be wowed as you trek up to the mountain-shrouded reaches of Tengboche. From here, with the howl of icy Himalayan winds, you'll be able to lay eyes on some of the highest summits on planet Earth: spiked Ama Dablam, cloud-gathering Thamserku, and – perhaps for the first time, if you're on the classic route to the Base Camp – the mighty Mount Everest itself.

You can witness blessing ceremonies every morning, a rite of passage for climbers on route to the surrounding summits. Trekking is the main reason folk flock to the town. It's not only on the path to Everest Base Camp but also the finale of the Sacred Sites Trail Project, which links a series of cultural heritage spots throughout the Khumbu region.
