It is famous for its ecosystem, which is amongst the oldest forest types on the planet to have evolved hundreds of millions of years ago. This forest has the highest percentage of endemic plants for any habitat in Madagascar and is dominated by the distinctive thorny Didiereacae or octopus trees. 

Travel to the Ifotaka Community Forest, a vast area of the most unusual forest on Earth that is home to the traditional Antandroy tribe. This community forest is a prime example of government and people working to preserve ecologically sensitive forest parts, leaving them intact and encouraging ecotourism. 

 Visit the culturally rich village of Ifotaka to experience the life of the engaging Tandroy people and be guided through the variety of local beliefs and customs.

Overnight stay in Ifotaka.

Head back towards Fort Dauphin from Ifotaka. Do local sightseeing along the way.

Spend the entire day at Akomba beach, relax and watch the sunset. This beach is idle for surfing. 

Travel to Evatraha village by motorboat. Explore the village, learn about the local community and enjoy the view of the Indian Ocean. 

Travel to the isolated Lokaro beach and enjoy the entire day there. It is one of the few places in the south of Madagascar, untouched and completely natural.
