8 Days Culture tour itinerary for sri-lanka: Visit Sri Lanka's Iconic Attractions

Arrive at the “Bandaranayake International Airport” and meet your guide.

After tour briefing, transfer to Anuradhapura, the first capital of Ancient Sri Lanka. 

After reaching Anuradhapura check-in to the hotel.

In the afternoon, we will visit Sri Maha Bodhiya (Sacred Bodhi tree) and the temple to see the evening ceremony. 

Evening at leisure at the hotel.

After breakfast, leave for a visit to Anuradhapura UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

After finishing the visit of the ancient city, start driving to Mihintale. 

Proceed to Sigiriya or Habarana. 

Overnight stay at Sigiriya or Habarana.

After breakfast, visit Polonnaruwa UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Lunch at Polonnaruwa local village house and proceed to Sigiriya UNESCO World Heritage Site for the sunset. 

Overnight stay at Sigiriya or Habarana.

After breakfast, leave for Kandy and visit Dambulla caves UNESCO World Heritage site and a spice garden in Matale, on the way to Kandy. 

Kandy city tour and cultural show in the evening. 

Visit the temple of the tooth UNESCO world heritage site for evening ceremony (1830h to 19:30h).

Overnight at Kandy.

After breakfast, leave for a visit to Kandy city, upper lake drive, Kandy Lake, market square, the city centre, and Peradeniya botanical garden. 

Then proceed to Nuwara Eliya, the highest land in the country (2000 m).

On the way, you can see a few waterfalls and visit a tea estate and factory, where you can observe the process of making tea.

Lunch in Nuwara Eliya. 

Overnight stay at Nuwara Eliya.

After breakfast, walk around Nuwara Eliya city to visit the market area, post office, Victoria City Park, and drive to Nanu Oya railway station to catch the train to Ella. This is the most scenic train trip in Sri Lanka. 

The driver guide will travel along with your baggage in the car to Ella railway station and wait for you. 

Explore Ella and overnight stay at Ella.

After breakfast, visit Little Adam’s peak and leave for Tissamaharama, en-route visiting “Rawana waterfalls”. 

Check-in to the hotel at Tissamaharama and have lunch. 

Afternoon visit to Yala national park (4 hours Jeep safari).

Back to the hotel for overnight stay at Tissamaharama.

After breakfast, leave for the south coast, where all the good beaches are located.

Proceed to visit Galle UNESCO world heritage site. 

On the way, visit stilt fishermen and sea turtle hatchery.

Drop off at your choice of beach at Mirissa or Galle. Or transfer to Airport.
