5 Days Culture tour itinerary for Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng & Vientiane: Get The Authentic Laos Experience

Ride up to the Blue Lagoon on bicycles, passing by scenic viewpoints of the Vangvieng town and surrounding paddy fields. Take a dip and relax by the lagoon and then on the next day, hop in for a drive to the capital of Laos and experience the city's curious mix of Lao, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, and French influences.

DAY 01

Arrival - Luang prabang tour

  • Arrive in Luang Prabang.

  • Go for a city tour.

Overnight.

DAY 02

alms offering - mekong cruise to pakou cave - kouangsi waterfall

  • An (optional) early start gives you the fantastic opportunity to participate in the daily morning rituals of saffron-clad monks collecting offerings of Alms (ubiquitous sticky rice) from the faithful residents. This tradition is very unique in Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving the procession.

  • From there you will visit the fresh market, where you will see such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea and salt pepper, among the chickens, vegetables, and hill-tribe weaves.

  • Breakfast at your hotel.

  • Embark on a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside as well as an opportunity to explore the mysterious Pak Ou Caves - two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes, left by pilgrims.

  • Along the way, we will stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where they make the local rice wine.

  • On return, we disembark at traditional villages - Ban Xienglek and Ban Xangkong - where they make handmade jute paper.

  • Continue on a drive to Kouangsi waterfall which is about 30 Km south of Luang Prabang.

  • Stop at Ban Ou Meuangkhai Village. The perfect viewpoint for great photos of the terraced rice paddy fields and of course, to see the local lifestyle.

  • Arrive at the waterfall, enjoy the beautiful scenery, swim or relax by the clear pools of the terraced limestone formations.

  • Walk through the forests and get a chance to say hello to the rescued black bears playing with their toys in their sanctuary.

DAY 03

private transfer to vangvieng with local experience

  • After breakfast, we will depart for the elephant camp before transferring to Vangvieng by road.

  • En route, we will visit the ethnic minority villages of Khmu trip and Hmong tribes for a photo op. You will enjoy the terrain, landscape and local life in the countryside.

  • Arrive at Vangvieng late in the afternoon.

  • Check in at the hotel and free time at your own leisure.

DAY 04

  • Meet your Laos tour guide at the hotel, in the morning.

  • Proceed to Phukham Cave by bicycle.

  • Cross the suspension bridge and enjoy the views of rice paddy fields.

  • En route, we will also trek up to the top of Pha Ngeun cliff, - a perfect viewpoint of Vangvieng town.

  • Continue to the Blue Lagoon.

  • Relax or enjoy swimming in the Blue Lagoon before heading back to your hotel.

  • Free time at leisure.

DAY 05

vientiane via namngume lake

  • Early morning, at 8:00 am, you will be transferred to the fabulous Vientiane.

  • En route, make a stop at the fish market and also visit Vang Xang, famous for stone carvings in the forest which dates back to 13 century.

  • Continue your drive to Vientiane, the charming and fascinating capital of Laos. This small town conjures up exotic images, with the curious mix of Lao, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, and French influences.

  • This afternoon we will explore the town and see Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple still standing in Vientiane. This amazing structure features remarkable frescoes and Buddha images.

  • Continue sightseeing by visiting Haw Prakeo, the former royal temple of Laos monarchy, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Statue.
