Explore north, east and south of Jordan. Start the tour with the Roman cities, visit the mystical Desert castles in the east, view the Christian pilgrimage sites Mt. Nebo and the important Crusader castle.

DAY 01

Amman Airport - Amman Hotel

  • Ahlan Wa Sahlan (Welcome) to Jordan. Upon arrival to Queen Alia Airport, Amman you will be welcomed with a Petra Nights Tours sign after you pass through customs.

  • Transfer to the hotel in Amman for overnight.

DAY 02

Amman Hotel - Umm Qais - Jerash - Ajloun Castle - Amman Hotel

  • Early morning, drive two hours from Amman to Gadara (Umm Qais), which belonged to the famous Decapolis, a union of 10 cities, founded by Alexander the Great. Here, you have an overwhelming view over the north Jordan Valley, the Golan Heights and the Sea of Galilee.

  • Leave for Jerash, the best example of a Roman provincial city in the whole Middle East.

  • Visit Oval Plaza, Roman collonaded street, the Nymphaeum and the Temple of Artemis.

  • Next stop is Ajloun the great 12th century Islamic castle built around 1184 by the famous Islamic leader Salah al-Din.

DAY 03

Amman Hotel - 3 Desert Castles - Amman City Tour - Amman Hotel (b)

  • Today, start your tour to the Desert Castles in eastern Jordan.

  • Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Amra Castle with its zodiac dome and the early examples of Omayyad fresco paintings.

  • Moreover, you view the fortress-like mysterious Qasr Kharanah and the black basalt Roman/Medieval Islamic fort at Azraq.

  • Back in Amman, you discover the historical places in downtown. The Citadel hill with remains from the Roman to the early Islamic period, like the Umayyad Palace, enjoying views over hilly Amman and the Roman Theatre.

  • Stroll via the Souq, where you get an idea of everyday life and Jabal Amman with its distinctive early 20th century architecture.

DAY 04

Amman Hotel - Madaba - Mt. Nebo - Dead Sea - Dana View - Shobak Castle - Petra Hotel (b)

  • Check out from the hotel and drive to Madaba, to view the famous mosaic- 6th century map of Palestine in St. George's church.

  • Take a short ride to Mt. Nebo. This is the place where Moses gazed at the Promised Land before he died and believed to be his burial place. You visit the old monastery, overlook the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and parts of the Holy Land.

  • At Dead Sea Beach, the lowest point on earth, enjoy leisure time at the beach and the chance to float on salty waters (shower and locker rooms are available).

  • Driving towards Petra, enjoy the view of Dana Reserve and visit Shobak the Crusader castle built by King Baldwin I. of Jerusalem.

DAY 05

Petra Visit - Petra Hotel (b)

  • Visit the red rose city of Petra, the biggest attraction of Jordan. Petra was first established around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabatean Arabs, a nomadic tribe who settled in the area and founded a commercial empire. You can start the trip on horseback or by foot to the canyon, the so-called Siq, and then walk to the most beautiful monument: the Treasury, from here to the Street of Facades, the Royal Tombs and Pharaoh's Castle.

DAY 06

Petra hotel - Wadi Rum Jeep Tour - Amman Hotel (b)

  • In the morning, drive 1.5 hours southwards to the protected area of Wadi Rum, one of the most impressing desert landscapes in the world. Here, the Bedouins still live in a traditional way, and by 4x4 Jeep tour, you discover canyons, sand dunes and Nabatean rock inscriptions.

  • Then, drive back to the capital Amman.

  • After breakfast, latest check out 12:00 noon, depending on your departure time transfer to Amman Airport to say farewell and board your flight.

  • 4x4s in Wadi Rum are old vehicles (no A/C, no seat belt) and belong to the local Bedouin association.

  • What to bring: small backpack, comfortable clothes and shoes, sunglasses, sunblock, torch, warmer clothes for cooler nights, headcover as protection against sun and wind, towel, first aid kit (for headache, cold etc.).

  • The spot guides in Petra are licensed by the Ministry of Tourism in Jordan and are not part of your team.

  • In case of rain, the government may decide to close Petra for safety and security reasons.

  • For the Dead Sea beach, don’t forget swimwear, flip flops and water sandals.

  • It is not allowed to bring drones or telescopes without permission into Jordan.
