Description

We start the tour with the Ispinigoli cave near the town of Dorgali. The cave is dominated by an enormous 38-meter high limestone column, one of the tallest stalactite-stalagmite examples in Europe. In the past, it was known as the Virgins' Abyss, a name with haunting significance: archeological research has discovered that the site was probably used by the Phoenician as a sacrificial well.

Finally, we will go to the Orgosolo Supramonte, where we will enjoy tasty, typical Sardinian open-air cooking, among the ancient holm-oaks. This special lunch with the shepherds will enable you to discover the genuine flavours of this ancient land, enhanced by the full-bodied local wine, Cannonau - strong in both colour and taste. On the way back we will visit the centre of Orgosolo with its famous murals.

    • Begin the tour with a visit to Ispingoli cave, near the town of Dorgali. The cave is dominated by an enormous 38 metres high stalagmitic column. 

    • Explore the cave, which is rich in particularities such as the Virgins’ Abyss and a Phoenician sacrifice well.

    • Move to Monte Ortobene, to Nuoro and finally to Orgosolo for the typical lunch with the shepherds. 

    • Watch the shepherds cook the lunch in the open air, under the shade of the holm-oaks and age-old junipers, among the natural environment.

    • Enjoy the unique flavours of typical Sardinian food, based on salami, cheese, boiled sheep with"patat'a perras" and roasted pork, and local bread.

    • Have a full-bodied local wine, the Cannonau of strong colour and taste.

    • Visit to the MURALES of Orgosolo: the paintings done in the house walls representing all subjects.
