8-Hour Lava Fields Tour From Reykjavik - Currently Not Erupting
Description
There is no eruption at the moment. There were two recent eruptions. The first one in 2021 and lasted about 6 months. The second took place in August 2022 and lasted a couple of weeks only. There is no glowing to be seen.

Hike to the Reykjavik Lava Fields expand_more
- Meet the tour representative, who will pick you up from your accommodation in Reykjavik to start the program itinerary.
- Proceed with a guided transfer to the start of the trail. Hike for 4-5 hours in the new lava field/eruption area. You will hike stark trails to see the recent lava field from two recent eruptions. The first eruption occurred on 19 March 2021 and was finished six months later. In August 2022, a small eruption on the same mountain lasted only one week.
- Return to Reykjavik and head to your drop-off accommodation to conclude the tour.

What to bring
- Hiking boots
- Hiking clothes such as quick-dry trousers, a warm jacket and a waterproof layer
- Hat and gloves (also in summer)
- Hiking poles (we usually have some in the vehicle)
- Water, at least 500 ml
- Food (something to eat)
Know before you go
- The weather in Iceland is unpredictable, so bring more clothes than you think you'll need while leaving the hotel.
- Please note you won't be seeing orange glowing or flowing lava unless we have a new eruption in the meantime.
- Please note that this is a demanding hike over uneven terrain.
