- Explore the Kharanaq village, that dates back to more than 3,000 years ago and is sort of abandoned now.
Continue to the Chak Chak temple, which is the holiest temple for Zoroastrians in the world.
Stop at Meybod, and get blown away by the striking monochromatic architecture of desert inns. Set along an ancient trade route, Meybod offers a number of fascinating sites to visit including its caravanserai. Built in typical Safavid style, this ancient desert inn features verandahs, shaded passageways, and nearly 100 rooms – some of which are now used as artisan workshops.
Visit a local ice-house, and learn all about the thick clay constructions and subterranean chambers that allowed local residents to have ice and food storage before refrigeration, even during the intense desert heat of summer.
Continue to see Narin castle (Narin Qal'eh) at Meybod, which holds the title of the oldest mud-brick castle in the world.
Stop at the Pigeon tower, which dates back to 400 years ago.
