We were in contact with him a few months regarding guiding us in our trip at South Ethiopia.

A day before we came to Ethiopia he said he is not joining us but will refer us to another experienced guide who will take care of us. This was the first alert!

When we landed in Addis he asked to meet and ask for all the money upfront. Second alert! We rejected and said we will pay after we meet the new guide.

We flied to the south and met the "new guide" Neway who  brought with him another guy who speaks only Amharit and he said he will not guid us but we will travel with this driver who dont know English and cannot communicate with us!  Third alert!

This rude man Neway also asked to get the money upfront.

We called Birhan to complain but it didnt help.

After 2 hours of shouting Neway said we will start the first day with the driver and he will send a new english guide to meet us that day and that we will pay part of the payment each day.

In the morning the ethiopian driver came to pick us up from the hotel and brought with him an english guide who said he can join us only if we pay additional fees! We called Birhan and Neway and said they should pay him directly since we purchased an english tour guide which they didnt supply. They of course rejected and said if we want him we should pay him!

Since we came to vacation and understood they are all cheating us and we cannot do the trip without an english guide we decided to pay him additional fees!

This guide was good and stay with us until the end of the trip BUT do not contact this Birhanemeskel (Birhan) or Neway since they are lyers and not trustable.

It was a true pleasure to have Birhanemeskel lead our group of ten  around Ethiopia. Birhanemeskel was very accommodating to our requests, and ensured that we had adequate time to view sites  and places of interest according to our itinerary. He went out of his way to ensure we had very authentic experiences with local people, and shared about his own personal experiences in Ethiopia when it was appropriate to discuss these with our group. Birhanemeskel is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, and maintained a very positive attitude with our group for the duration of our time in Ethiopia. He went out of his way to get to know group members in an appropriate way, and was very compassionate and caring when explaining local traditions and customs to our group. Would certainly ask him again to guide future groups.
