Belgrade December 2017

The last time I have visited Belgrade was many years ago. That's why I was very interested in revisiting the town with a guide this time! So i booked Ms Djina Dostanic as my guide for 5 days. The day I arrived the weather was really lovely and Djina took me to Kalemegdan fortress where she explained me every single detail about the fortress, the park and it's history. It was really exciting and she has an amazing knowledge about the history of Belgrade. On the second day we visited the Old Town of Belgrade. She showed me the most amazing local restaurants and gave me special tips about the local food. It always tasted really good, i can only recommend visiting this part of the city. The next trip we took was to Topola and the Church of Oplenac. I have never been there before and i was very impressed by Djinas explanation and knowledge about the place. It is really magical to be there if you once learn all the history about the place. On the next day Djina showed me several vineries around Topola. You might guess- we had a lot of fun at several wine tastings! The last day she showed me the region around Avala mountain. The landscape there is really impressive and also again the history and facts about the place. I am more than lucky that I had Djina with me to show me all these beautiful places. Djina was very kind to me from the first day on and what is the most impressive thing about her is that she knows every detail about every historical place in and around Belgrade. She has an enourmous knowledge about politics in history concerning various topics. She was always fun to talk to and her light and easy personality makes it fun to travel with her! She speaks English and Spanish, and of course Serbian, fluently. I can strongly recommend Djina as a city guide!

I visited Serbia twice with a group of Slovenian journalists. Our guide was always Djina. She was always able to present a lot of details and a profound knowledge of the places we have visited. History, information on arhitecture, food, local habits....Besides, she was very communicative, available for our questionIt even after the official programme. It was a real pleasure to have her as a guide.

Some years ago I visited Belgrade to write some stories for German magazines. One of them had the title above. It referred to the the problem of many people from Serbian to visit other European countries while it was easy for Europeans to travel to Serbia. At the same time I was suprised by the people's passion for celebrating life and for living in the presence. Thanks to very dedicated tourism director Zorica Jovanova I met charismatic people, e.g. a film director and an artist. And I had a wonderful guide by my side: Djina. She was full of details and could tell the biography of any cobblestone. Djina is an extremely kind, helpful, patient (bearing all my lifelong foto stops and special interests) and affectionate woman - with an enormous sense of humor. It's a delight visiting Belgrade with Djina! J.R. Munich, Germany
