In Apr/May 2018, I set out for Everest Base Camp with my guide Ram from Adventure Alpine Gorkha Treks.  He met me at the airport, got me to my (lovely!) hotel and immediately went through all of my trekking gear with me to make sure I had everything I needed.  The next morning,  to help get over some jet lag, we did a tour of the major sites in Kathmandu.  Then on Day 2, we left for the airport early in the morning to catch our flight to Lukla to begin the trek.  Unfortunately, the weather wasn't cooperating and after waiting for several hours for a flight that was never going to depart, we returned to the hotel with plans to try again the next morning.  The next morning, back to the airport we went...and were once again faced with bad weather and cancelled flights.  So, Ram sprung into action.  With my consent, he traded my plane ticket to Lukla for a ticket to Pokhara and quickly made alternate plans to do a trek to Annapurna instead.  By the time we landed in Pokhara, Ram had hotel reservations in Pokhara, trekking permits for the Annapurna circuit, reservations at tea houses along the way, and not only transportation to and from the trek, but transpo to some sightseeing destinations in the Pokhara area.  Ram's knowledge of the trekking business in Nepal and his quick worked saved my trip from being  pointless days spent at the airport hoping to get to Lukla...to a thoroughly enjoyable trek to Annapurna!
