Worked with TourHQ to define a different kind of day. We started with a visit to several of the ornate metro stations and a lesson on how to navigate the system for when we wanted to travel on our own, on subsequent days. Then to Red Square, some history and walk around the major elements. Also advice on where to go on later days if we had spare time. Walk through some gardens and a metro journey through to the dormatory areas - we wanted to see where real Moscovites lived, shopped and ate. Great insight into the new Russia and Moscow cultures. Local shopes, spoke to some political activists, ate local food and rode buses (buses are pretty much the same in any city lol!). Back to the centre for a walk round the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, local parks with statues rescued post the breakdown of the USSR.  Then for a final 45 min river cruise around the centre. All in all a good day. Guide was friendly but low key - and showed us more than we expected, also was resourceful in flexing the plan to maximise our experience.
