8 Days Trekking tour itinerary for Srinagar & Sonmarg: Trekking Across Picturesque Alpine Lakes
Trek across the great lakes of Kashmir and get enchanted by the celestial land that is nothing short of a fairytale. A surreal destination, there are many natural gems tucked away here waiting to be explored by the ones who dare to tread off the beaten path.
Drive from Srinagar to Sonamarg
Spend some time in Srinagar, which is known for its beautiful gardens, lakes, and houseboats.
Take an iconic shikara experience at Dal Lake or stroll through the Mughal garden, unravelling many beauties along the way.
Depart from the city by evening for the drive towards Sonamarg.
Overnight stay at a campsite/guesthouse in Sonamarg.
Sonamarg to Nichnai via Shekdur (9 -10 km)
After having breakfast at the guesthouse, start with a 3-4 km trek from Sonamarg.
Reach a roadside eatery to pack all the required commodities for the day.
From this point, the trek will be a gradual one.
Continue trekking alongside the Sindh river through maple and pine forests.
After completing the hike through the forest, be rewarded with the stunning views of Sonamarg valley and picturesque streams.
Arrive at Nichnai and set camp for overnight stay.
Nichnai to Vishansar Lake (13 km)
Around 08:00 am, start trekking towards Nichnai Pass.
On the way, enjoy stunning views of the lush valleys and the untouched beauty of the region.
Next, cross the river and continue hiking through its banks.
Arrive at Nichnai Pass or the Vishansar Berry, located 13,500m above the sea level.
Witness and enjoy the meticulous beauty of the pass and the snow-covered peaks all around it.
Overnight stay at camp.
Acclimatization day in Vishansar
This day will be reserved for rest and acclimatization to the weather.

Trek from Vishansar to Gadsar (via Kishasar and Gadsar Pass) (11km)
Wake up to a chilly morning to witness the Kishansar Peak casting its reflection on the azure lake waters.
Start the trek for the day towards the lakeside and reach Kishansar Peak, situated around 500 ft above the campsite.
From here, ascend to the other side of the water reservoir. The trek till this point comprises of both easy and tough terrains.
Arrive and Gadsar and set camp for overnight stay.
Gadsar to Satsar (12 km)
Begin the day with a walk from the army camp towards the stream.
Brace for varied terrains ranging from super steep, flat and even land.
Take a short break at Maengandob that is fringed by mountains.
Arrive at Satsar and set camp for overnight stay.
Satsar to Gangabal Twin lakes (9 km)
A true test of calibre, this is the day when trekkers will have to push their physical and mental limits.
Trudge through rocks and boulder ridden terrain.
Pass the last of the Satsar lakes, and start hiking downwards for half an hour to arrive at the forest line.
Arrive at Gangabal twin lakes and set camp for overnight stay.
Trek from Gangabal to Naranag (12 km, 7 hours)
After breakfast, start trekking from the Gangabal camp.
Ramble on grassy land dotted with yellow flowers and pine forest.
Descend towards Naranag, the last leg of the trek.
Reach Naranag Village in Ganderbal District.
Trekkers can also visit Naranag Temple. (Optional)
Drive back to Srinagar.
Arrive at the guesthouse for the night.
End of tour.

Charge of qualified trek leader, guide, and support staff.
If cancellations are made 30 days before the start date of the trip, 25% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
If cancellations are made 15-30 days before the start date of the trip, 50% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
If cancellations are made within 0-15 days before the start date of the trip, 100% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
