5 Days History tour itinerary for Agra, Delhi & Jaipur: Get, Set And Drive To Three Of Indian Royal Cities

You will be met at the airport by our representative.
Transfer to the hotel in Delhi.
In the morning after a leisurely breakfast, drive to Agra through the beautiful countryside.
Check-in at the hotel on arrival.
Post lunch, leave to explore the Mughal monumental heritage, including the magnificent Taj Mahal- one of the Seven Wonders of the World. 20,000 men labored for over 17 years to build this memorial for Shah Jahan’s beloved wife. It’s a wealth of white marble and semi-precious stone.
Visit Agra Fort- a powerful fortress of red sandstone encompassing, within its 2.5-km-long enclosure walls, the imperial city of the Mughal rulers. It comprises of fairy-tale palaces, such as the Jahangir Palace and the Khas Mahal; audience halls, such as the Diwan-i-Khas; and two very beautiful mosques.
Spend the evening on shopping and doing personal activities. Agra is known for its fabulous handicrafts, made of marble and soft stone inlay work. The Mughals were great patrons of arts and crafts. Empress Nur Jahan took personal interest and was an accomplished artist herself in zari embroidery work. Agra’s major handicraft products besides inlay work are: leather ware, brass ware, and embroidery work.

Fatehpur Sikri- Jaipur
After breakfast, head to the Pink city- Jaipur. Founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II, the city is meticulously constructed on the lines of the Shilpa – Shastra, an ancient Hindu treatise on architecture.
Enroute visit Fatehpur Sikri, a World Heritage Site which has been described as world’s most perfectly preserved ghost town. Built by Akbar in the late 16th century, it was abandoned after only 14 years yet the elegant buildings of this superb walled city remain intact to this day.
Resume the drive to Jaipur.
Witness the incredible Arti ceremony at the Birla Temple after the sun goes down.
Overnight stay in Jaipur.
After breakfast, go on a sight-seeing tour of the city. Visit the dramatic hilltop fortress of Amber – ascend the imposing fort on a decorated painted elephant.
On your way back, stop to view the elegant Hawa Mahal or Palace of the Winds. This elaborate building is encrusted with delicate screens and carved balconies from which the royal ladies, confined to their quarters, could sneak views of the outside world.
After lunch, tour the Maharajah’s City Palace, now partly a museum displaying a unique fusion of Mughal and Hindu architecture. The museum houses a rare collection of paintings, Rajput armory and costumes.
Later explore the city on your own and indulge in shopping for gemstones, silver jewelry, paintings, blue pottery and hand printed textiles that Jaipur is renowned for.
Lastly visit Jaipur’s Observatory, a World Heritage Site that is the best preserved of India’s historic observatories. It is an expression of the astronomical skills and cosmological concepts of the court of a scholarly prince at the end of the Mughal period.
Overnight stay in Jaipur.
Drive to Delhi and Sightseeing
After breakfast, drive back to Delhi.
On arrival, have lunch.
Leave for a sightseeing tour of New Delhi. Visit the 11th century Qutab Minar tower, built by Qutub-ud-din Aibek of the Slave Dynasty, who took possession of Delhi in 1206. It is a red sandstone tower, standing tall at a height of 72.5 metres and is covered with intricate carvings and verses from the holy Qur’an.
Next stop, the India Gate- a memorial raised in honor of the Indian soldiers martyred during Afghan war.
Drive past the grand government buildings such as the President’s House, Parliament House etc, all dating back to the time of British Raj.
End the tour with a visit to the Raj Ghat- a memorial built for Mahatma Gandhi, at the spot where he was assassinated.
