4 Days Nature tour itinerary for israel: Traverse Along The Gospel Trail
Lower Galilee, Nazareth, Sea of Galilee, Tiberias, Mount Arbel
Go on a journey in the footsteps of Jesus, on the Gospel Trail. The hike is moderate yet beautiful, with magnificent views from Jesus’ neighborhood. Experience nature, and visit historical sites where Jesus ministered, with a deep spiritual dimension, that can include times of biblical input, reflection and prayer, inspiring “on trail” music concerts, and much more.
Nazareth to Cana - 13.5 km
We start our day in the Church of the Annunciation, walking through Nazareth market, winding up the narrow streets to a wonderful lookout on Nazareth and its surroundings. We then enter the hills towards Zippori forest, reaching the old city (Sepphoris), described by the first century CE Jewish historian, Josephus Flavius, as “the ornament of all Galilee” and features the church dedicated to Anne and Joachim (parents of Mary, mother of Jesus).
We then continue into the forest, reaching the village of Mashhad, which is considered to be the birth town of Jonah.
We end our day in the village of Cana, which is the traditional site of the wedding feast where Jesus performed his first miracle of turning water into wine.
Cana to Lavi - 15.5 km - Walking in Beit Keshet Forest
After crossing Cana, we again enter the forest, gaining some height to look over the Netofah Valley.
Surrounded by the beautiful “Beit Keshet” forest, head down towards the Roman road, crossing the agricultural fields of Kibbutz Lavi.
Lavi to Arbel - 15 km - Horn of Hattin
Cross vast wheat fields we will climb our way to the magnificent view point from the Horns of Hattin, where the famous battle between Saladin and the Crusaders took place.
Make your way down passing Nebi Shu’eib (Considered to be Jethro’s tomb by the Druze).
Entering into gorgeous Arbel valley, visit ancient Arbel synagogue, and take first views of the Sea of Galilee.
Arbel to Capernaum - 16.5 km - Mount of Beautitudes
Start your day with a visit to Arbel National Park, which offers magnificent view over the entire Galilee.
Then hike down exploring cliff caves, where King Herod fought his strong-holding opponents. With expansive views of the Sea of Galilee, reach Migdal (Birth place of Mary Magdalene).
Entering Jesus’ main area of ministry, we will climb the Mount of Beatitudes, and then descend to Tabgha and visit the Church of Multiplication, St. Peter’s Church, and end this marvelous day at “Jesus’s village” – Capernaum.
