Just after you exit the highway you will notice an open-air museum of army collections from the Croatian Homeland War. The museum covers a rather small area but is interesting to have a look.
Reach Rastoke village in the city of Slunj. This historical watermill village of extraordinary natural beauty and tradition is built where river Slunjcica flows into Korana river forming several waterfalls and lakes. Most of the traditional architecture you will see, suffered damage during the Homeland War and locals have been encouraged to preserve and renovate objects due to its ethnological value. Take a walk through the village and have a cup of coffee at a local restaurant (Optional).
Drive half an hour from Slunj to reach the oldest Croatian national park, Plitvice Lakes National Park (UNESCO World Heritage SIte).
Stroll through the complex of 16 terraced lakes joined by waterfalls.
Go for a boat ride across the lake and a panoramic train ride through the park.
