Private Tour Guide In
Weymouth

I want to tell you about my fishing tales from around the world! My name is Sean McSeveney.I live in Weymouth, Dorset and I have been fishing for more than 40 years.

I was born in Scotland, and by the age of 10, I had cut my teeth on some of the great Trout and Salmon rivers in Scotland such as the Clyde and the Annan. As a young teenager I lived in Peterhead where for a number of years I fished the River Ugie, once one of Scotland’s foremost Sea Trout rivers.I also spent many hours fishing for Coalfish, flounders, Mackerel and Cod from the breakwater.  I have lived and visited lots of different countries, and I have been lucky enough to have been able to fish in most of them.

In an average year I will fly fish, course fish, boat fish and fish from the shore with bait, but lure fishing is what really makes me tick.I have been lure fishing since I was 10, but it has only been the last few years that I have become almost addicted to lure fishing.Recently I have been focusing on lure fishing for Bass, Wrasse, Pollock and Garfish, but I have had some success with Mullet, Flounder, Pike and Perch. This year (2013) I will be pushing the lure fishing envelope as far as I can.I will be spending a lot of time targeting new species such as Black and Gilthead Bream, Plaice, Cod and Chub from the river. If I am very lucky I will get to travel abroad again this year.I would love another opportunity to fish the Amazon again to target the Peacock Bass and multiple other species that will happily take a lure.If I was to choose one other destination it would be the Florida Keys, with it’s massive array of species that can be targeted from both the shore and boat.

I moved to Spain seven years ago and spent two of the three years that I stayed there working as a fishing guide.I had my own charter boat and proved that the Mediterranean was far from empty of fish.I also guided on some of the most exciting freshwater venues in Spain including the famous River Ebro.I had a great time with my clients catching huge Wells Catfish, but my favourite fishing on the Ebro was targeting the big Carp and Zander that were so often ignored. It was not unusual to catch 30lb plus fish on a daily basis, especially in the winter.

I want to share the knowledge that I have built up over the years, and my hope is that it will help anglers old and new to get more from their fishing.
