Make the most of your wildlife interactions: spend time in two National Parks, get up close to an elephant, visit a primate sanctuary, interact with Chimpanzees at the Jane Goodall Institute for Chimpanzees, visit one of the most featured National Geographic wildlife rehabilitation centres, and stop by the largest vegetated Canyon in the world with some spectacular scenery.

DAY 01

Hartebeespoort - North West Province

  • Pick-up by Jannie (National Tourist Guide & Executive Protection Agent) from the Johannesburg International Airport or your hotel/accommodation nearby (if already in South Africa) and transport you in an air-conditioned vehicle to the North West Province.

  • Stop at a Primate Sanctuary where we go for a stroll with monkeys from all over the world inside a ‘jungle-like’ enclosure and brave the ‘Bridge of Courage’.

  • Visit one of South Africa’s largest indoor Local Craft Markets before lunch.

  • After the hopping experience, have lunch.

  • Proceed to an Elephant Educational Interaction facility where you learn all about ‘Africa’s Gentle Giants’ and the problems ‘they’ face in nature today.

  • Head off to our accommodation close to the Pilanesberg National Park and settle into a quaint little Hotel where there ar single /sharing/couples or family rooms.

DAY 02

Pilanesberg National Park - North West Province

  • Shortly after breakfast, depart for the Pilanesberg National Park; the 3rd Largest Big 5 Game Reserve in South Africa. Virtually all of the animal species native to southern Africa can be found here, including the Big 5, Wild Dog, Roan Antelope, Tsessebe, Sable Antelope and more than 360 species of birdlife.

  • Spend the day exploring the Park in a closed, air-conditioned vehicle where you can enjoy the sights the Park has to offer in comfort.

  • Do stop-over at a Picnic Site for lunch within the Park and you will be spoilt with an African Bush Braai (barbeque) in this beautiful setting. 

  • Depart the Park late afternoon as you head back to our Hotel.

  • Use the evening at leisure enjoying the Hotels Facilities, or you may opt to retire to your room after dinner.

DAY 03

Pilanesberg National Park - North West Province - Johannesburg

  • After a hearty breakfast served at the hotel, return to Pilanesberg National Park for some more exciting experiences as you go in search for more Wildlife. 

  • Eat lunch will be enjoyed within the park at the Restaurant which offers a view of the waterhole where Plains Wildlife such as Zebra, Wildebeest and Antelope frequent along with the occasional Elephant and Giraffe. 

  • After lunch, continue the drive through the Park in search of those last-minute unique photographic opportunities before departing the Park and settling in at the hotel for the night.

DAY 04

North West Province – Mpumalanga – Greater Kruger Area

  • Depart for the ‘Greater Kruger Area’ on a 4hour journey with our vehicle via the scenic Schoeman’s Kloof Valley.

  • On route, stop in at the world-famous Jane Goodall Institute for Chimpanzees called ‘Chimp Eden’ for an hour tour and interaction with these highly intelligent primates.

  • After lunch, depart for the Kruger National Park’s pristine Wildlife Estate called Marloth Park, where you settle into your accommodation on the banks of the Crocodile River overlooking the Kruger Park.

  • Enjoy a braai for dinner under the African Night Sky whilst listening to the calls of the hyenas and lions in the distance before you turn in for the evening.

DAY 05

Marloth Park - Kruger National Park - Mpumalanga

  • A very early rise as you head for the Kruger National Park on a full day game drive in the luxury of an air-conditioned vehicle in search for Africa’s Big 5. A packed breakfast will be provided, and lunch will be enjoyed at a restaurant inside the Park. Spend the day in the vehicle with a few toilet-stops throughout the day. 

  • Explore the Southern Region of the Kruger Park and stop in at some of the camps for some unique curio shopping - found only in the Kruger Park. Kruger Park offers an abundance of wildlife & birdlife in the beauty of their natural habitat – be sure to bring your binoculars and camera along for the ride!

  • Go a ‘Dinner Out’ tonight is for your ‘own account’ and at a restaurant overlooking the Crocodile River.

DAY 06

Marloth Park - Mpumalanga - Kruger National Park - Limpopo

  • Enter the Kruger National Park in the South and travel all the way to the most central part; where you will exit the Park and head for the Bush Chalets for the next 2 nights. Travelling from the South to the Central part of the Park provides a bigger opportunity to spot the Big 5 as you cover a much larger area. The biodiversity and landscape change drastically as the day passes. 

  • As the sun sets in the sky, you book into the accommodation in a Wildlife Reserve nestled on the foothills of ‘Mariepskop’, the most northern ‘lookout’ of the Drakensberg Mountains situated in Limpopo Province.

  • Be welcomed by a South African Family; with a passion for Wildlife and feast ourselves on a ‘home-cooked’ dinner fit for a King. The Bush Chalets awaits us as we settle in for the night.

DAY 07

Guernsey Reserve - Limpopo - Hoedspruit

  • After a lovely breakfast, depart for an Educational Briefing and a visit to a Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre featured on National Geographic for the exceptional work and conservation efforts that take place in saving Africa’s Wildlife from the intrusion, threats, and effects that humankind poses to nature.

  • Enjoy the packed lunches which come in handy as you go on a short hike to a waterfall and enjoy the views of the Blyde River Valley. 

  • Ascend by vehicle to the top of the viewpoint and overlook the Blyde River Dam before heading back to the Bush Chalets after an eventful day. The hosts await for dinner around the campfire.

DAY 08

Guernsey Reserve – Limpopo - Panoramic Route – Mpumalanga - Johannesburg

  • Bid the hosts farewell and enjoy the last breakfast together.

  • Depart for Johannesburg via the Panoramic Route. 

  • Get ready or the most spectacular views as you visit the 3rd largest Canyon in the World. The 25km long (16miles) Canyon is the largest vegetated ‘green’ Canyon in the World and consists of lush sub-tropical foliage providing for some of the most beautiful views on earth. Our first stop is at the '3 Rondavels'. 

  • Visit the natural wonder of Bourke's Luck Potholes, hike to ‘God's Window’ and stop at the Pinnacle (God’s Finger). 

  • Journey to Johannesburg where you say goodbye to your newly found friends. The arrival is expected late at night and accommodation can be arranged at an additional cost. Plan to stay the night in Johannesburg before departing home or furthering your travels.

Areas to be covered:  

  • You will be collected from either the Johannesburg International Airport or any hotel within a 50 km radius from ORTIA.

  • Depart from Gauteng Province and cross over into the North West Province.

  • Spend time in Hartbeespoort on Day 1 and move on to Pilanesberg close to Rustenburg where you spend 3 nights.

  • On Day 4, depart for the Greater Kruger Area as you cross over into Mpumalanga Province.

  • On Day 6, depart via Kruger to the Limpopo Province where you will spend 2 nights.

  • Head back for Johannesburg on the last day crossing back into Mpumalanga Province and then arrive in Johannesburg Gauteng Province.

  • Stay overnight for 3 nights in a hotel with all the amenities.

  • Rooms can be arranged on a single, sharing, double or family room basis.

  • Linen and Towels are provided.

Description of accommodation in Marloth Park:

  • Stay overnight for 2 nights in a Self-catering Unit with all the amenities.

  • Rooms can be arranged on a single, sharing, double or family room basis.

  • Linen and Towels are provided.

Description of accommodation in Guernsey Reserve:

  • Stay overnight for 2 nights in a Bush Chalet with all the amenities.

  • Rooms can be arranged on a single, sharing, double or family room basis.

What to bring: 

  • Closed shoes - sneakers or hiking shoes.

  • Flip flops.

  • Warm clothes (days could reach up to 25 degrees Celsius) and evening can get rather cold.

  • Sunscreen (even if it is a cloudy day- the South African sun can be unforgiving).

  • A good hat.

  • A flashlight or headlamp.

  • Water bottle.

  • Binoculars if you have.

  • Definitely your camera and enough memory cards lol!

  • A bag that is not too big for luggage.

  • Backpack (day pack).
