About me
Since 2004, I started my work with a motive to guide climbers on the Mexican volcanos.Currently a resident of Broomfield, Colorado, I have guided and climbed extensively throughout Colorado, the Argentinean, Chilean and Bolivian Andes, the Alaska Range, Mt.Elbrus and the Caucasus mountain range in Russia, the Khumbu region in the Himalaya, and Mexico (where I am originally from).
I have been on 2 Everest expeditions and made it to 26,000' in May 2017 (was unable to summit due to extreme winds).
I have summited all 54 Colorado 14ers (many in winter) and am presently working on finishing the top 100 highest summits in Colorado.I have led more than 50 successful expeditions to the Mexican Volcanoes and have climbed and guided Rainier many times, including an ascent up Liberty Ridge.
Having guided and led two expeditions to Denali (20,320'), six to Aconcagua (22,841'), as well as other expeditions to the Chilean Andes and the Cordillera Real in Bolivia, I added a feather in my cap with major peaks in the US (including a one day ascent of the Grand Teton-upper Exum route).Apart from guiding, I have also taken a wilderness medicine training and is certified as a Wilderness First Responder.
On February 12, 2005, I discovered the coat and documents of Andes Survivor Eduardo Strauch as well as other previously undiscovered airplane parts, while climbing near the impact point of the famous crash, popularized in the book and movie 'Alive".While doing this, I put up a first ascent up a 15,400' glaciated unnamed peak.
In December 2005, with a grant from National Geographic, I led the first and only- to - date complete re-tracing of the historic escape route done by Andes Survivors: Roberto Canessa and Nando Parrado in 1972.This was done in the same month as the survivors did to experience the challenge of similar snow conditions. This story was also featured on the April 2006 issue of National Geographic Adventure magazine.
I have been involved in the making of 3 documentaries about the Andes Survivors including: 'Stranded' and History Channel's: I am Alive: Surviving the Andes Plane Crash where I did a high altitude camera work.I also worked as a climbing stunt double and have been featured as an expert on the topic throughout the show.
