About me
I decided to start my own guiding and service company in 2010.Born and bred in Amsterdam, I can show you the typical touristic highlights, but more importantly, also the hidden gems.History and architecture are my pet subjects, but I also love to take you around the Rijksmuseum and bring to life stories of the past by pointing out easy to miss details for the inexperienced eye.Art history continues to be of great importance to understand the past, and to us, an important theme to study.
Having lived in London for two years and almost four years in New York City I believe this has given me a definite edge over regular guides in the language department.
Before working as a professional guide, I achieved many successes as a professional backgammon player before I turned my attention to poker.Equally profitable, but even more uninspiring. After two decades time had come for a new challenge: being a tour guide.A strong sense of patriotism and a warm personality seemed like two traits especially built for the new job at hand.Combined with a strong appetite for knowledge and general interest in languages and culture it quickly proved to be a guarantee for satisfied customers.
Having travelled to Germany and befriending fellow backgammon pros resulted in a high level of conversational Deutsch (die Fälle sind zu schwer leider….).
As for my knowledge: I am a certified National Guide listed with Guidor (the professional guide organization in Holland).
