Learn how Kunta Kinteh Island played a role in the trans-Atlantic slave trade here. This the same island from where the author of Roots, Alex Haley, claims his ancestor came from. Do boat cruises to and fro this island & spot dolphins along the way.
DAY 01
Banjul/kunta kinteh island
First, we pick up at around 6:30 am in the morning and drive Banjul to take a boat ride on the Gambia River.
Cruise past islands on the river and head towards Kunta Kinteh Island.
Make a quick stop on the island and visit the village of Kunta Kinta where the family of Alex Haley, author of Roots, claim heritage from.
Visit the chief lady of the land.
Return to the boat for lunch while cruising to Kunta Kinteh Island.
Explore the island.
Coffee or fruits will be served on the boat. Also try to spot dolphins here.
Head back to your accommodation.
