9 Days Culture tour itinerary for Accra, Kumasi & Mole National Park: Gain Insight Into Ghana's Capital City's Origins
Accra, Kumasi, Mole National Park

Arrival and a short night out at Oxford street
AKWAABA, WELCOME TO GHANA THE GATEWAY TO AFRICA! Your driver and Ghana tour guide will pick you up at the Airport and take you to your booked hotel.
Have a short night out at the famous Oxford Street in order to get well acquainted with your Ghanaian tour guide and driver and also to have a view of the nightlife of Accra.
Cape-coast/ Elmina(Cape-coast castle, Kakum national park and Elmina castle)
This morning after breakfast we will leave Accra for the Cape-coast. In Cape-coast we will first visit the Cape-coast castle which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Cape-coast castle was used as a keeping place for slaves before they were sent to the Americas during the colonial era.
Our second destination will be the famous Kakum National Park. At the Kakum National Park, you will get to learn about the history of the park and the communities that make up the park. You will also get an opportunity to walk on the canopy walkway.
Our last destination will be the Elmina castle which is also a UNESCO Site. This castle was the first colonial building in sub-Saharan Africa.
From Elmina, we will return to our booked hotel.
Kumasi( Assin Manso slave market and manhyia palace)
This morning we will leave very early for Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
On our way to Kumasi, we will make a brief stopover at the Assin Manso slave market which was the last place captive slaves were taken to have their last bath before they were sent to the Cape-coast castle.
In Kumasi, we will visit the Manhyia Palace which is the palace of the Asantehene, who is the King of the Ashanti kingdom. The Ashanti kingdom was one of the greatest empires in Africa and its history dates back before and during the colonial era.
After sightseeing at the Palace, we will return to our booked hotel.
Kumasi/ nkoranza( cultural centre, bonwire kente village and Boabeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary)
This morning, after breakfast we will go to the Kumasi Cultural centre.
At the Kumasi Cultural centre, we will visit various shops and check out their paintings and other art works.
Visit the Asante Museum and learn about the history of the Ashanti people.
Our next destination will be the Bonwire Kente weaving village, which is noted for the weaving of the traditional Ghanaian cloth.
From the Bonwire village, we will head straight to the Boabeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary.
Boabeng-fiema ( tour of the sanctuary, visit the monkey priest and community tour)
The village of Boabeng-Fiema is a small community where monkeys and humans live harmoniously together with each other for several generations till now. The monkeys here are also considered to be sacred and they have a human priest who is responsible for their burial of the monkeys whenever any of the monkeys dies. In the morning after breakfast, we will tour this sanctuary and learn about the history of the monkeys and the village.
In the afternoon, we will pay a courtesy call on the monkey priest and learn about the activities of the monkey priest. We will also do a community tour of both the villages of Boabeng and Fiema and also share some school items for the kids in the village.
Kintampo waterfalls and mole national park
This morning after breakfast, we will leave for the Kintampo waterfalls. We will spend about 2 hours at this spectacular waterfalls and possibly swim here. We will then leave for the Mole National Park, that have over one hundred kinds of animal species.
AtMole National Park, we can relax and spend the night by the pool side.
Mole/ techiman( guided safari, visit to the monori village and Tano boase)
This morning after breakfast, we will go for a guided walking safari inside the park area to have a look of the baboons, elephants and many other animal species.
Do a community tour of the village of Monori to learn about their way of life and also try our hands on the making of the sheer butter.
From the village of Monori, we will head straight to the Tano Boase sacred grove. The Tano Boase sacred grove was the first settlement of the Bono people.
Move to our booked hotel in the Techiman township for overnight stay.
In the morning after breakfast, we will have a short tour of the Techiman market - the second biggest open market in Ghana. Here, we will interact with the market women, take pictures with them and also buy some fruits for our journey ahead.
From the market, we will head straight to Accra.
Accra city tour and departure ( the makola market, kwame nkrumah mausoleum and British James town)
After breakfast, we will move straight to the bustling Makola market which is one of the busiest opening markets in West Africa. At the market, we will have the opportunity to see how the customers and the sellers bargain on the prices of items.
Our second destination will be the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum which is the final resting place of Ghana's independent leader and first President - Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. At the mausoleum, you will learn about the history of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and more on his Pan African Agenda.
Our final destination will be the British James Town - the first British settlement in Accra. The British James Town is also famous for its lighthouse and the Usher fort.
Go to the Accra Art Centre to have a look at more paintings and other artworks. You can also have the opportunity to buy some souvenirs for your family and friends.
We will have some get together and afterwards go to the airport for your departure.
It includes vehicle and fuel, accommodation and breakfast , tour guide and driver services, site fees and unlimited bottle water.
It excludes visa fees, travel insurance, lunch and dinner, gratitude to driver and guide and drinks.
The cost of the school items to be given to the school kids in villages will be incurred by the tour guide. But any support from tourists for this wealthy course is warmly welcomed.
