7 Days Culture tour itinerary for ghana: Get In Touch With Southern Cities & The Past

Get picked up by your Ghanian tour guide from the Kotoka International Airport who will take you to the hotel in a comfortable vehicle.

Depending on the time of your arrival, you may go through an orientation and a city tour of Accra. 

Visit Kwame Nkrumah Monument, Independence Square, Makola Market, historic Jamestown, W.E.B. Du Bois Center, fashionable Oxford Street in Osu.

Embark on a long drive to the Volta Region, early in the morning.

First stop will be at the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary in Tafi where you will tour through a forest and with some bananas, you can pet Mona Monkeys believed to be sacred to the people in the community. 

Later in the evening, drive to Amedzope, the highest village settlement in Ghana where you will take a 15 min hike up to Mount Gemi and watch the sunset from Mount Gemi.

Hike to the Wli Waterfalls, Ghana's tallest waterfall early in the morning. The falls stand amongst a meticulous landscape of forest, hills, and streams where you will hear the flow of water gushing down. 

Here you can take a bath in the refreshing water.

Get back to the lodge for dinner and head back to Accra.

Depart on a 4 hours drive to Kumasi early in the morning.

In Kumasi, you will tour the Kejetia Market, the largest open market in West Africa where people from all over Ghana, Ivory Coast, Togo, and other neighbouring countries come to buy and sell goods.

See why your tour will be incomplete without visiting the residence of the King of the Ashanti kingdom called the Manhyia Palace. Here you will also get the opportunity to visit some of the cultural villages of the Ashanti Region. 

Later in the evening, you will visit the art and craft market and shop for souvenirs.

Start your day with a long drive to the Central Region and tour the Cape Coast Castle built by the Swedes in 1653 and was later taken over by the British. 

Here, your castle guide will take you through the various cells and dungeons where history unfolds the story of the slave trade of which aftershocks are even felt today in the shores of Africa.

Return to your beach-side hotel and enjoy some beach time for the rest of the day.

Have breakfast at your hotel and depart for a drive to Kakum National Park, one of the tropical rainforests in West Africa.

In the park, you will embark on a canopy walkway crossing 5 bridges. A park ranger will take you on a nature walk through the forest explaining the economic, cultural, and medicinal values of plants in the forest.

In the evening, spend time on a beautiful beach near the hotel.

Spend some time on the beach as you prepare for the final lap of your tour.

Leave for Accra and on the way stop at Osu for lunch.

Head to the Independence Square and the art market at Accra where you can shop for some souvenirs.

Proceed to the airport for departure.
