1 Day Nature tour itinerary for Mombasa & Shimba Hills National Reserve: Shuttle Away To Admire The Views Of Indian Ocean From The Top

After breakfast,  you will be picked up from your accommodation at 6.00 a.m. and driven up till Shimba Hills National Reserve (45 min).  

On your drive, pass cashew nut and palm tree plantations. En route, get an insight into the lifestyle of the local people.

Game viewing will begin as soon as you enter Shimba Hills, Kenya's last remaining habitat of the rare Sable Antelope (endemic to this reserve). The reserve is also home to elephants, buffalo, black and white Colobus monkeys, leopard, bush babies and a variety of birds, flora and fauna.

At 11.00 a.m. visit the Sheldrick Waterfall on foot (escorted by a KWS game ranger) – a 45-minute gentle hike downhill through tropical rainforest takes you to the breathtaking waterfall. Enjoy as the cold water, that cascades down the 30m high cliff and forms a natural pool.  This is a physical exercise; a moderate level of fitness is required.

Lunch will be waiting for you once you hike back up to the top of the trail, you will then take a short break in the shade and enjoy a delicious picnic lunch with spectacular views overlooking the park right to the Indian Ocean.

After a rest, head out for another game drive until about 3.00 pm where you will depart from Shimba Hills and drive back to your accommodation arriving at around 4.00 pm.
