Lake Nakuru National Park-Kenya

Take this tour to the best of Kenyan wildlife national parks to see cheetahs, leopards, hippos, elephants and more. Bird watchers are also in for a treat with sightings of Marabou stork, tawny eagle, Verreaux’s eagle, Jackson’s Francolin and more.

DAY 01

Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

  • Pick up at 07:30 and then drive to Samburu National Reserve.

  • Arrive in time for lunch here, followed by an afternoon game drive. Samburu National Reserve is a rugged and semi-desert park located in Samburu district in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya. The park neighbours the homes of the Samburu tribe of Kenya, a tribe known for their remote culture, pastoral and nomadic way of life. Due to its remote distance and the fact that it was inaccessible for many years, the park has retained a naturally serene and quiet feeling. Besides the numerous wildlife found in this game reserve, the park is also a bird haven.

DAY 02

Samburu National Reserve

  • Enjoy a full day game drive in the reserve with packed lunches. There is a wide variety of animal and bird life that can be seen at this Reserve. Several large game species common to Kenya’s northern plains can be found in abundance here, including the following dry-country fauna: gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, oryx and reticulated giraffe. All three big cats, Masai lion, Tanzanian cheetah and leopard can also be found here, and as well as elephants, buffalo and hippos. Other mammals frequently seen in the park include olive baboon, warthogs, Grant’s gazelle, Kirk’s dik-dik, impala, and waterbucks. Rhinos are no longer present in the park due to heavy poaching. There are over 350 species of bird. These include grey-headed kingfisher, bee-eaters, Marabou stork, tawny eagle, Verreaux’s eagle, bateleur, yellow-necked spurfowl, lilac-breasted roller, secretary bird, superb starling, red-billed horn-bill, yellow-billed hornbill, and various vultures including the palm-nut vulture.

DAY 03

Samburu National Reserve to Aberdare National Park

  • After breakfast, we will drive to Aberdare National Park.

  • Arrive in time for lunch then transfer to the Park. Picturesque, steep forested ravines and open moorland characterise the Aberdare National Park. The park provides a habitat for elephants, black rhinos, leopards, spotted hyenas, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, buffalos, warthogs and bushbucks among others. Rare sightings include those of the Giant Forest hog, bongo, golden cat, serval cat, African wild cat, African civet cat and the blue duiker. Visitors can indulge in picnic lunches, trout fishing in the rivers and camping in the moorlands. Bird viewing is rewarding, with over 250 species of birds in the park, including the Jackson’s Francolin, Sparrow hawks, goshawks, eagles, sunbirds and plovers.

DAY 04

Aberdare National Park to Lake Nakuru National Park

  • After breakfast, we drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. On the floor of the Great Rift Valley, surrounded by wooded and bushy grassland, lies the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park. Visitors can enjoy the wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that range from Lake Nakuru itself to the surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges. Lake Nakuru National Park is ideal for bird watching, hiking, picnic and game drives. The lake’s level dropped dramatically in the early 1990s but has since largely recovered. In 2013, the lake received an alarming increase in the water levels that led to the migration of flamingos to Lake Bogoria in search of food supply.

DAY 05

Lake Nakuru National Park to Masai Mara National Reserve

  • After breakfast, we will drive to the Masai Mara Reserve.

  • Arrive in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive. Situated in south-west Kenya, this reserve is one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves. Together with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, it is Africa’s most diverse, incredible and most spectacular ecosystems and possibly the world’s best safari game viewing spots.

DAY 06

Masai Mara National Reserve

  • Enjoy with full day game drives and packed lunches. Masai Mara National Reserve stretches 1,510 sq km (580 sq miles) and raises 1,500-2,170 meters above sea level. Spot different species of mammals and birds - 570 recorded species here.
