Lake Nakuru has more than just flamingos. This is a major National Park and an important sanctuary for Rhino. There are huge herds of waterbuck, zebra, buffalo, the endangered Rothschild Giraffe and both Black and White Rhino are found here.

Lake Nakuru has unusual but beautiful vegetation. The forest vegetation is covered with Euphorbia, tall cactus-like trees and acacia woodland. The forest region is a host to over 400 migratory bird species from around the world.

Masai Mara is famous for its Big 5, and the annual migration of wildebeests and zebras, Thomson's gazelle, and wildebeest from the Serengeti every year from July to October. Numerous other antelopes can be found, including Thomson's and Grant's gazelles, impalas, elands, topi, and large herds of zebra are found through the reserve. Lions, leopards, cheetah, hyenas, Masai giraffe, wildebeest, baboons, warthogs, buffalo, elephants, and of course hippos and crocodiles in the Mara River, over 400 species of birds have been identified in the park, many of which are migrants, with over 60 species.
