4 Days Backpacking tour itinerary for Mount Kenya & Nanyuki: Conquer The Second Highest African Mountain Peak

Ascend the second highest mountain in Africa via the Naromoru route which is quite easy and quick to Point Lenana (Summit). By doing this, you get the chance to see both of the main sides of the mountain which you will get completely in love with its peaks.
DAY 01
Nanyuki town - Old Moses camp (3300m).
Be picked up from your hotel or residential place in Nanyuki town around 9.30 am and drive towards north reaching to Sirimon Gate (Mt Kenya park gate) in 45minutes.
Have your lunch from this point, meet your rest of climbing crew and check in the park.
Start your hiking along a paved road through rain forest reaching Old Moses Camp (3300 m ) in 3 hours at a distance of 9 km.
Overnight at the campsite.
DAY 02
Old Moses- Shipton's camp (4200m).
Have an early breakfast and start trekking along a single trail up the hill crossing Ontulili and Likii Valleys continuing along Mackinders valleys to reach Shipton's Camp (4200 m) in 6 - 7 hours.
Have lunch along the way.
Overnight at Shipton's campsite.
DAY 03
Shipton's - Summit (4985m) - Met station camp (3300m).
Wake up at 02:00 hours, have a simple breakfast and start trekking in the dark for a duration of 3 hours to Point Lenana Summit (4985 m).
From this point, you will be rewarded by a spectacular African Sunrise.
Take photos and start descending towards Narumoru route passing Austrian and Mackinders Camps.
Continue hiking along the wide Tereki valley filled with vertical bogs reaching to Met station in 5 hours for an overnight stay.
DAY 04
Met station - nanyuki town
Have an early breakfast and start trekking down in the forest with high chances of spotting wildlife for a distance of 9 km to Naromoru gate (2600m).
Have a small celebration with your crew and board the vehicle to Nanyuki or onward destination to Nairobi.

Hiking to Mt Kenya in 4 days and 3 nights. This tour is recommended to those hikers who only need to reach the summit within a short period of time.
