 Take advantage of the newly built bridges over the Omo river on your expedition to meet and capture images of both western Omo Suri(Surma) tribe and several other southern Omo tribes.

DAY 01

FLY ADDIS TO JINKA( BCO)

  • Your Ethiopia tour guide will pick you up from the airport and transfer to a hotel for you to freshen up.

  • Head South to Omo Research Center and visit the ethnological museum to get a brief preview of the variety of tribal groups residing in Omo valley.

  • Depending on time, you can also visit the evening market of Ari tribe.

DAY 02

JINKA - MURSI - TURMI

  • Start early in the morning with an excursion to a Mursi village (approx 66km from Jinka). 

  • Meet the Mursi folks who are renowned for wearing large lip plates and ear lobs.

  • Then after lunch, drive to Turmi (120 km from Jinka),

DAY 03

DRIVE TURMI - KORCHO - DUS - TURMI

  • Early in the morning, make an excursion to Korocho to visit the Karo tribe. The Karos residing on the bank of Omo river, are celebrated for the finest body painting and body scarification. 

  • Return to Turmi for lunch. 

  • In the afternoon, one of the biggest Hamar village.

DAY 04

DRIVE TURMI – KANGATEN-KIBISH

  • After an early breakfast, depart for Kibish in the heart of Suri land(Surma), crossing  Omo river from the Kangaten side via the newly built bridge. 

  • The west side of side of the river has relatively been isolated and preserved from tourist radar. 

  • En route, encounter different wild animals as you crossing Omo National park.

  • Aim to get to Suri for an evening photo session.

DAY 05

FULL DAY SURI(SURMA) PHOTOGRAPHY

  • The Suri still remain an unfrequented tribe due to their remoteness and inaccessibility. They are also incredibly photogenic with their ornate decoration which they achieve through painting, scarification and flowers and other natural objects.

DAY 06

KIBISH -KAKUTA

  • Early in the morning depart for Kakuta. 

  • Spend this morning and afternoon visit photographing the Bume tribes.

  • Camping in Kakuta will give you the chance to get familiar with the life and culture with a warrior tribe. Nyangatom women use (Hang) enormous loose colourful bead necklaces around their necks, they shave around their scalp and leave a central friezed tuft of hair on to which a generous amount of red ochre is applied. And Nagatom men undertake voluntary scarification on their upper body.

DAY 07

KAKUTA -TURMI

  • This afternoon, drive to the central town of the Hamar Tribe in Turmi.  

  • Transfer to Buska lodge and prepare for the next day's photo session.

DAY 08

TURMI - DASENECH -TURMI

  • After breakfast, make an excursion to Omorate which is located east of the Omo River. 

  • Cross Omo River by a small boat and walk for 20 minutes to the Gelab (Dassanech) tribal village. Dasenech people are also known for their body painting and body scarification.

  • In the afternoon, you might be attending Hamer bull jumping(age rite) depending on when and where happing.

DAY 09

TURMI -JINKA- ADDIS( FLY JINKA(BCO) -ADDIS (ADD)

  • Return to Jinka airport and en-route visit the weekly tribal market of Dimeka(on Saturday) or Keyafer(on Thursday). These markets are bustling as various dwindling tribes of the Omo Region come together to socialize. 

  • See what is happening around and sell and buy goods.

  • Ari, Tsemai, Hamar and Benna people can be seen mixing in the colourful marketplace. 

  • Proceed to Jinka and transfer to the airport.

  • 1750 USD Per Adult , 1450 USD Per Child (* Discount available for a group of more than 8 persons)
  • Accommodation room on twin-bed sharing basis.

  • Camping equipment. 

  • All meals throughout the tour. (Full Board)
