Description

Drive to the Wenchi Crater Lake, located near the great Wonchi volcano from Addis Ababa and choose between a horse ride or a hike down to the bottom of the crater lake. Take a short boat trip to a small island in the lake to visit a monastery, encounter Colobus monkeys and a wide variety of birdlife at Woliso lodge grounds and take a bath in the hot springs.

    • Leave Addis Ababa at 7am and take a 3 hour drive to Wenchi crater lake.

    • Upon Arriving, either hike to the bottom crater lake or take a horse down with your Ethiopian tour guide. 

    • Have lunch at the base of the crater followed by a short boat ride to visit an old monastery on one of the lake's islands.

    • After the monastery visit, hike or ride horseback to the top of the crater. 

    Overnight stay in Negash Lodge in Woliso

  • Day 2: Woliso -Addis Ababa expand_more

    • After having breakfast, take a walk around the lodge grounds and swim in the natural hot spring pool. The lodge is set in a woodland area, so there is also a good chance to catch a glimpse of the Colobus monkeys and a large variety of birdlife.

    • Have lunch at the lodge followed by your departure back to Addis Ababa.
