  • Day 1: Flight to Mekele & Drive to Ahmedela expand_more

    • Upon arrival, meet your representative at Bole International airport and transfer to the domestic terminal for your flight to Mekele.

    • After taking some rest, drive to Berhale and visit Afar villages. 

    • Meet the camel caravan coming transporting salt to be sold in the cities of Tigray and neighbouring regions. 

    • Then drive to Dalol to watch the Afar men mining salt. It is a spectacular sight with myriad colours of nature, unique in the world. 

    Overnight Camping.

  • Day 2: Dalol to Erta’ale expand_more

    • After breakfast, drive to Dallol and visit the sulfuric lake.

    • Then continue to climb Erta Ale.

    • Spend a day and night camping at the crater rim of the volcano.

    Overnight Camp.

  • Day 3: Drive back to Ahmedela expand_more

    • Walk back to the base. 

    • Then, drive back to Ahmedela. 

    • On the way, visit one of the Afar Villages, where you will camp for the night.

  • Day 4: Drive back to Mekele to Addis Ababa expand_more

    • After breakfast, drive back to Mekele.

    • Then transfer to the airport and fly back to Addis Ababa.
