6 Days Nature tour itinerary for Quito, Galapagos Islands & Galápagos National Park: Save On A Budget Island Hopping

Fly down to the volcanic island cluster in the Pacific Ocean and visit some of its best attractions like the Lava Tunnel, Tintoreras Islet and many more. Go snorkelling around the island, trek on the volcanic rocks and get to see a variety of wildlife. Get to see the lava formations and visit the renowned Charles Darwin Research Station.

DAY 01

BALTRA – SANTA CRUZ ISLAND – ISABELA ISLAND – FLAMINGO LAGOON

Option 1: Itinerary for flights arriving at Baltra before 11:00 am.

  • Upon arrival at Baltra Airport, you will be picked up by an English speaking Galapagos Island tour guide and transferred to Puerto Ayora for lunch.

  • After lunch, take the speedboat to Isabela (approx. 2.5hrs).

  • Upon arrival, head to Flamingo Lagoon for a short visit, followed by a drop off at your hotel in Isabela.

Accommodation in Hotel San Vicente or similar.


Option 2: Itinerary for flights arriving at Baltra after 11:00 AM

  • If your flight arrives after 11:00 am, you will stay in Santa Cruz on your first day. If you arrive before 2:00 pm, you will have lunch.  The order for the tour will be changed, but rest assured that you will do all the activities included in the tour.

Accommodation in Hotel Fernandina or similar.


*Note: The activity sequence depends on the availabilities of the different tours, transportation and your flight schedule. The sequence of your complete tour might change but you won’t miss any tours if you have an afternoon flight back to Ecuador on the last day.

DAY 02

TINTORERAS AND WETLANDS

  • Start early in the morning by first visiting the Giant Tortoise Breeding Center and then the Wall of Tears, a historic site. 

  • Afterwards, head to Tunel del Estero where you will experience a Lava Tunnel and take in the glorious sites. (Please keep in mind that the total length of the walk in the Wetlands area is approximately 3 to 4 hours)

  • After lunch, you will have a short break before your visit to Tintoreras Islet. Named for the white-tip sharks known as Tintoreras which rest at the bottom of the site.

  • Transfer to Puerto Villamil for a trek on volcanic rocks, where you can spot a variety of wildlife and later head for snorkelling and spending time at the beach.

DAY 03

SNORKELING IN LOS TUNELES

  • Head for a 30-40 min boat ride early morning from Puerto Villamil (Max group size: 10 pax). The unique lava formations and calm water make Los Tuneles the best site to snorkel in Isabela Island. You will get the chance to spot a wide array of sea birds, marine wildlife, penguins, and the ever-playful sea lions. The activity takes about 6 hours.

  • Choose if you want to explore Concha Perla by yourself before or after snorkelling.

DAY 04

CHARLES DARWIN RESEARCH STATION – BAY TOUR

  • At 06:00 am, take the public speedboat to Santa Cruz Island where you’ll have breakfast.

  • Then, visit the renowned Charles Darwin Research Station.

  • After having lunch, head for a Bay Tour. With this tour, visit the highlights around Puerto Ayora by boat, including La Loberia, Punta Camaño Islet, two-channel crossings, and finally Playa de Los Perros.

DAY 05

SANTA FE ISLAND

  • After breakfast, travel to Santa Fe Island, one of the oldest islands in the archipelago. The vegetation of the island is characteristic. Santa Fe is home to endemic species such as the Barrington Land Iguana.

  • Upon arrival, take part in a snorkelling activity.

  • After snorkelling, head to Santa Cruz island and have about an hour of beach time before lunch.

* This tour is called ´Pesca Vivencial´ which means that you might be able to experience a fishing demonstration according to weather and park regulations.
* Wet landing: It means that the boat gets close to the beach and from there you will disembark in the see, it is recommended that you bring extra clothing, as you might get wet.

DAY 06

TRANSFER OUT – BALTRA

  • After breakfast, transfer to Baltra Airport with a Spanish speaking driver, where you will depart to Quito or Guayaquil.

  • 6 Day Galapagos Island Hopping Budget

  • All the Budget Galapagos Island Hopping tours are shared group tours. Every group day tour will have different travellers. You can have a different driver/guide every day. There are different tour coordinators on every island. You can start this tour every day of the year. Ask for more information about different travel styles.

  • It is recommended to book flights with an early arrival time to the Galapagos Islands and late departure time from the Galapagos Islands to make sure you can enjoy all of the activities of the tour. Late arrivals and/or early departures mean you might miss some activities.

  • If your flight is delayed or cancelled and you cannot make it to Puerto Ayora in time to take the last speedboat to Isabela Island, which departs around 14:00, the team assist you with finding accommodation on Santa Cruz Island but this will be on your own expense. You will miss the planned activities.

  • Try to only bring small baggage/bags since public transportation on the Galapagos Islands is quite small.

  • Tap water on the Galapagos Islands might contain bacteria and should not be consumed, not even for brushing your teeth. Bottled or purified water is always recommended.

  • Inform yourself about food safety when travelling to tropical countries. Take the necessary precaution to avoid food poisoning (always wash your hands before eating, don’t eat ‘street food’, only eat peeled fruits, etc.).

  • It is mandatory to have valid travel and medical insurance. Please inform of any known medical conditions you have.
