5 Hours Culture tour itinerary for Havana & Varadero: Tour The Capital City Of Cuba
Visit all main sites of Old Havana and other landmarks in the modern part of this Cuban city. Morro Castle hill, Plaza de Armas, Governor’s Palace, Rum Museum, Plaza Vieja, Obispo street, Capitol, Floridita etc. are major attractions that you will come across.
Pick-up at 8 am from your Varadero hotel lobby followed by a two-hour ride to Havana. There will be a short refreshment stop on the Bacunayagua Bridge. The tour takes place in a vintage American car, a regular yellow taxi or a minivan depending on the number of passengers and their request.
To start the tour, we will pay a visit to the Morro Castle hill for a bird’s eye view of Havana. Then we will start our two-hour walking tour of Old Havana where most attractions are located: Plaza de Armas, Castillo de la Real Fuerza, the Governor’s Palace, Plaza de San Francisco, Rum Museum, Plaza Vieja, Bodeguita del Medio, Cathedral Square and it's baroque-styled church, Obispo street which is Havana’s most lively pedestrians-only street, Hotel Ambos Mundos where Ernest Hemingway wrote part of 'For Whom the Bell Tolls'. We will also visit other museums, colonial residences and art galleries in Old Havana.
Next is a lunch break. Then, tour the less old part of Havana mostly by car: Hotel Nacional, Plaza de la Revolucion, the Floridita which was made famous by Ernest Hemingway in 'Islands in the Stream', Paseo del Prado, formerly Havana’s main thoroughfare, the Capitol, the Museo de la Revolucion, the Seville Hotel from Our Man in Havana. The tour ends and we leave Havana at around 4 pm and arrive at the hotel at around 6.30. On your request, we can visit other tourist attractions such as a cigar factory (10 CUC per person), the Statue of Christ, the crafts market, the Almendares River and its forest, the Miramar district etc.

When to go?
Any day of the week except for Monday when all museums and most other places are closed. On Sundays, everything remains open until 12 pm.

It will be a vintage American car for a group of 4 people, if there are only two or three of you, we can arrange a modern vehicle. A minivan if there’s more than 4 of you.
To book this tour you need to make a small prepayment on this website. The rest is paid directly to me in cash. There are banks and exchange bureaus in Havana but you will most likely have to join a line and wait to get in. Please change your money in a bank or at the airport upon arrival if you are going to pay us in CUC. Do not forget that your passport will be required at all banks and exchange offices for any transaction!
