Explore a traditional earth-oven experience. An umu is an underground earth-oven - you are an active participant and taking part in the preparation of this umu. See how it was done in ancient times and how it's done in the present day - little has changed.  What a great way to understand our umu history & culture. You will also receive step-by-step instructions from an Island Umu Chef. 

DAY 01

Prepare, Participate then Enjoy a Feast

  • Have you ever learnt how to cook an umu (earth-oven)? Explore a traditional earth-oven experience.An umu is an underground earth-oven - you are an active participant and taking part in the preparation of this umu. 

  • You can take part by preparing for your lunch like the locals do. Understand our umu history & culture.You will also receive step-by-step instructions from an Island Umu Chef.

  • Whilst the umu is being cooking underground, you will also be taught how to husk a coconut as well as tasting the coconut juice and flesh, fresh from a coconut tree.It's alot of fun.Learn about the Coconut Tree - the Tree of Life. 

  • Then enjoy an "All you can Eat" Buffet of delectable Island Cuisine made by yours truly - YOU! Participate with your group, prepare an earth-oven, learn about the history and indulge in a meal together.There is no other tour like this one in the Cook [sensitive content]and only unique tour here on the Island! Must have a minimum of 4 people to book this tour.
