Pickup from the port, hotel or water taxi and then take a 45-minute drive to the site.
Drive through the old capital Belize City to the Black Howler Monkey Sanctuary is located 35 miles northwest of Belize City and is a unique conservation effort bringing together 8 villages to protect Belize's Black population and habitat Howler Monkey affectionately called "baboons" by the locals. The sanctuary consists of approximately 20 square miles along the Belize River and embodies a combination of dense jungle, pasture, farmland, and small village life.
Go onto the northern highway to the cut off of Burrell Boom Village. Travel to the village of Bermudian Landing, passing through scenic ecosystems.
Travel along the narrow Boom road to spot the monkeys on the trees.
Hike some trails to see the monkeys in their own habitats.
