10 Days Culture tour itinerary for bangladesh: Cruise The Rivers And Get The Best Of Nature & Culture
Dhaka, Khulna, Rajshahi, Bogra, Sundarbans
Explore the land of rivers on rocket steamers and fibre boats, cruising over the backwaters and along the mangroves to see the best of this evergreen country. The winter - October to March - is ideal to tour without any threats from rain or cyclones. During the Summer, May - August, the best way to explore is on boats.
Meet and greet the guide at Dhaka airport and transfer to the Hotel 71.
If you arrive by afternoon, there will be time for a bit of sightseeing around the city.
Sonargaon archaeological site
In the morning at 08:00 am, check out of the hotel and proceed to see the Keraniganj boat building activities or sightseeing in Sonargaon - ancient golden capital.
In the late afternoon, check-in to a rocket steamer 1st class cabin for an overnight journey to Hularhat.
Barisal backwater and floatig market trip
On arrival, early in the morning, check-in to a hotel.
Soon after, continue on a 1 hour drive to board an engine boat for a backwater cruise. Have the ultimate rural landscape expeditions where you can observe boat building and floating timber market.
In the evening, return to the hotel. (3 star facilities).
Bagerhat sixty dome – another World heritage site
Early in the morning, take a 5 minute drive to catch a rocket steamer and cruise to Hularhat.
At around 09:30 am, de-board the boat and drive to Bagerhat Sixty dome Mosque and other historical sites. Learn about potter families still continuing their traditional works.
Check in at Pashur hotel (deluxe room).
Sundarban day long cruise
Explore Sundarbans on a fibre boat, cruising up to Harbaria Eco-Tourism Centre.
On Arrival, walk across the wooden bridge path to try and spot a tiger paw print and explore the magical mangroves.
In the evening, drive to Khulna for overnight at City Inn Hotel.
train journey and Visit Puthia Temple city
Depart from Khulna, early in the morning, and catch a train to Rajshahi.
Arrive in the afternoon, and drive to Puthia Temple city – the most significant here are Shiva, Jagannath and Gobinda Temple.
Check in to hotel.
Mango retreat and ancient Mosque city
Drive to Chapai Nawabganj and relish mangoes grown in the region.
Explore several ancient Mosques; the most attractive among them are Chhota Sona Mosque, Darasbari Mosque, Chika Mosque, Tahkhana Complex and Bagha Mosque.
Overnight at Rajshahi.
Paharpur vihara, Kushumba Mosque and Mahasthangarh
Depart Rajshahi in the morning and proceed with a 60 km drive to visit Kushumba Mosque (stone-built Sultanate structural Mosque).
Then, drive another 2 hours for the visit to an ancient Buddhist monastery ruins in Paharpur. Buddhist Bihar or Somapur Mahavihara was built by Sri Dharmapaldev, the second king of the Pala dynasty in late 7th century. In 1985, UNESCO gave it the World Heritage Status.
Drive to Bogra at Mahasthangarh. Known as Pundranagar in the ancient times, it was a rich and prosperous walled city during the 3rd Century BC. Many scholars compare the ancient Pundravardhana with the Indus civilization of Mohenjo Daro. There were 20 monasteries here including Vasu Bhihar, a once famous Buddhist learning center with more than 700 students from different countries of the world.
Outside the wall, you will find pottery, coins, ornaments, terracotta and stone carved paintings, statues of stone, statues of gods, copper medals, arrows, knives, iron spears etc from the 4th century BC. There are also several types of monuments from the first and second centuries BC, with paintings, shields and printed copper coins.
Overnight at Bogra Naz Garden hotel.
Dinajpur Kantaji Temple
Depart Bogra by car. It takes 2 and half hours to Kantaji Temple, which is famous for its terracotta work. There are about 15 thousand terracotta tiles in the entire temple.
After lunch, return to Dhaka by car/van and arrived at the Hotel Air Inn by 11:00 PM. (dinner will be served at a highway restaurant).
Transfer to airport for your return flight.
