Lalbagh Fort

Visit Dhaka, also known as the City of Mosques. The city is popular for its exquisite Mughal and Colonial architecture, natural beauty, and traditional Dhakaiya foods. It is also a heaven for street and portrait photography.

DAY 01

Sadarghat - Lalbagh Fort

The tour on this day will include the following highlights:

  • Sadarghat (riverfront) - Bangladesh's busiest port in terms of passenger traffic. 

  • Armenian Church - located in the Armanitola area of old Dhaka, it is a testimony to the existence of a significant Armenian community in the region in the 17th and 18th centuries.

  • Dhakeswari Temple - abode of Dhakeswari - Goddess of Dhaka; this temple was built in the 12th century by Ballal Sen, a king of the Sena dynasty.  

  • Hazrat Shah Ali's Mirpur Shrine - it belongs to Hazrat Shah Ali Baghdadi, a 15th-century saint, who converted many Hindus to Islam in Girdah. 

  • Golap Shah's Majar Shrine - Golap Shah came to spread the message of Islam from Yemen around 200 years ago. His shrine here is believed to be more than a 100 years old. 

  • Hossaini Dalan - the Imambara of Shia community, serves as the main Hussainiya of Dhaka, or venue for majlis or gatherings held during the month of Muharram. 

  • Ramna Kali Mandir - the Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Kali sits over an area of 2.25 acre. It was built during the Mughal period, but was largely developed in the 20th century. 

  • National Parliament Building - Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, at 200 acres, boasts of being the largest legislative complexes in the world.

  • Gurdwara Nanak Shahi - commemorates the visit of Guru Nanak in 1506-1507. It is also believed to be the place where Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Guru of the Sikhs stayed for more than two years.

  • The Bangladesh National Museum - built on 20 March 1913, has a department of ethnography and decorative art, history and classical art, natural history, and contemporary and world civilization.

  • Freedom Fighters Museum - see the story of Bangladesh's fight for freedom and liberation. 

  • Baitul Mukarram - the National Mosque of Bangladesh has a capacity for 30,000 followers. It is also the 10th biggest mosque in the world. 

  • Lalbagh Fort - the 17th-century Mughal fort was built by the orders of Mughal prince Muhammad Azam, third son of Aurangzeb.

DAY 02

Chawkbazar - Bangabandhu Memorial

The tour on this day will include the following highlights:

  • Chawkbazar Shahi Mosque- built in 1676 by Subahdar Shaista Khan, the three-domed mosque has a madarsa and mosque in a single building. 

  • Kakrail Mosque - center of Tablighi activities in Bangladesh.

  • Dharmarajika Buddhist Monastery - was established in 1960 by Bangladesh Bouddha Kristi Prachar Sangha. 

  • Star Mosque - built in 19th century by Mirza Golam Pir, the mosque is famous for its ornate designs and is decorated with motifs of blue stars. 

  • Shankhari Bazaar - one of the oldest areas in Old Dhaka, it is lined with richly decorated brick buildings, which were constructed during the late Mughal or Colonial period.

  • Dhanmondi Lake - a tourist spot known for cultural hubs such as the Rabindra-Sarobar. 

  • Bangabandhu Memorial Museum - the residence of President of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujib, this place has also been a witness to his brutal assassination on 15th August 1975. Today it is a museum to his belongings and photographs.
