Description

Pay your respects at the Juma Mosque and Sufi Dervish Mausoleum of "Diri Baba", located opposite to an ancient cemetery from the 15th century. Then, stop by the village of Lahij, known for its authentic handicrafts of copper, carpets, rugs, etc.

    • Pick up at 9 AM from your hotel in Baku by your Azerbaijani tour guide. Following this, visit Juma (Friday) Mosque in Shamakhi.
    • Reach the Sufi Dervish Mausoleum "Diri Baba". There is a unique monument – a two-storeyed mausoleum-mosque of the 15th century called “Diri-Baba”, located opposite an ancient cemetery – from Baku to Shamakhi. 
    • Go to Ismailli. The district's territory was part of the Albanian state, which was formed in the late 4th century and early 3rd century BC, long before it was erected. Historical facts prove that Mehranis, who belonged to Javanshir, had created Girdiman's prince in Ismailli territory. Javanshir was of this generation. 
    • Go to Lahij. Lahij is a notable place in Azerbaijan, with its authentic handicraft traditions, particularly related to copper. The village's carpet and rug crafts are also well known in Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus. 
    • After finishing the tour, leave there and reach Baku at 9 PM.

  • Diri Baba: For a long time, residents believed in a legend that a sacred person called Diri Baba was buried here and remained imperishable. However, many legends and mystic events are related to this monument. That is why the mausoleum attracts many pilgrims and curious people since the 17th century.
  • Lahij has an old sewage system (some experts claim it was built 1000–1500 years ago). Due to frequent earthquakes, local people have developed sophisticated and authentic construction techniques.
