Crafted by the hands of Armenian tribespeople, Arabic caliphates, Persian artists, Ottoman imperialists and Soviet industrialists alike, the city of Yerevan is a fascinating composition of ancient fortifications, Islamic architecture, Fin de Siecle frontispieces, and communist tenements.
